Begin practicing Phonemic Awareness and letter recognition. Choose books with simple concepts like numbers, shapes, and colors as well as books that invite children to participate and read along with the parent. Point out details about books, such as titles and authors name. Books about animals or children are often favorites at this age. Choose books with easy words, fun rhymes, picture clues, and repetition.
