Below is your summer reading list for your soon to be 1st grader! We are grateful for the effort the students have made in reading this year and want to maintain the enthusiasm and interest for literature over the summer.
This list should be seen as a guide, or a place to start looking for books. The authors/book series on this list are not required, but students are required to read a minimum of 10 books this summer. This can be done individually or with an adult. I encourage you to read additional literature with your child if you finish the 10 books. In addition, students will be asked to complete ONE project from the ones listed below.
You will also find a reading log where students should record the books read. Please add any additional books read independently or together on the book log. In addition to recording the books, your child should rate each book using the key at the bottom of the reading log page. The log MUST BE SIGNED by a parent or guardian and returned on the first day of school. Students will be recognized for their completion of the summer reading requirement.
I look forward to seeing you next year! Have a wonderful summer!
Sincerely,
Ms. Boyle
