The 8th grade class had a memorable and exciting visit to our nation's capitol! The action-packed trip included visits to the White House, the U.S. Capitol (where students had the privilege of sitting in the Senate gallery as two prominent Senators spoke about immigration and gun violence in our schools), and a vast array of memorials and Smithsonian museums. In addition to sightseeing, several students participated in the wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the offering during Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. The whirlwind trip concluded with a trip through the Pennsylvania countryside to Gettysburg National Battlefield, Washington’s winter encampment at Valley Forge, and a day of heavy snowfall in Philadelphia!
