Welcome to middle school Health and Physical Education!
The goal of physical education is to develop the whole child. This includes spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional and physical development. The interactive nature of physical education allows engaging students in each aspect of this development. Students will be able to develop their social skills while learning biomechanical principles, the role of physical activity and healthy choices throughout their lives. Students will recognize themselves as God’s creation and accept the responsibility to care for themselves. Physical education will provide a framework to achieve these goals and encourage a lifetime of healthy living.
The class will answer questions and allow for open discussion of each of the dimensions of wellness, which activities are best for a lifetime of enjoyment and how to set realistic goals.
Our curriculum is based on the Archdiocese and national education standards, and uses activities and guidelines from research based Sparks PE curriculum. There is no textbook for physical education but students will be quizzed over class notes.
