I was born and raised in Louisville, KY, where the majority of my family still lives. I always intended to go back to Kentucky after getting my BS degree from Bates College, in Maine, but I guess God had other plans. I ended up with a teaching internship in Georgia and, eventually, a job in South Florida. Since my grandparents were in northern Florida, I was still close to family, but South Florida was not for me. I taught 8th grade Earth Science, and a couple of high school electives for three years in Florida before moving to Texas when my grandparents returned to Kentucky. Once in San Antonio, I continued to teach 8th grade for another 8 years, IPC this time, and eventually added 6th and 8th grade Robotics. After 12 years in Middle School, I tried my hand at high school for the past 3 years--teaching Chemistry, Physics, Earth Science, Marine Biology, and AP Chemistry—but my heart is truly in Middle School. Since I met my husband the first year I moved to San Antonio, I don’t foresee going anywhere anytime soon.
